Teens - we have lots of opportunities for community service! Use us to enhance your college or job applications.
Our thriving all-volunteer organization has an increasing number of special events, in addition to our museum which is open 15 Sunday afternoons a year.
Communications
→ Use social media to expand our reach & impact, with measurable results
→ Write about & post our events in newspapers & online
→ Help lay out & write 3 newsletters a year
Social
→ Improve your public speaking & conversational skills by becoming an exhibit room host, guide or museum greeter
→ Join our booth at Sparta Day
→ March with our Model T in Sparta parades
Computers & Electronics
→ Be on-phone or in-person tech support
→ Learn to program & update our museum's e-signs
→ Catalog our collections into PastPerfect app
→ Scan old postcards, photographs & documents into our digital archives
→ Create labels for our rotating exhibits
Arts
→ Design posters for special events like our Classic Car Show
→ Photograph events & exhibits
→ Design a new logo for our organization
Muscle
→ Build, demolish, paint, shovel, carry, load, unload, set up & put away chairs - muscle as needed
→ Dust, vacuum, fold & stuff, data entry
→ Monitor grounds for sticks and tree limbs, maintain entrances to homestead with weeding, mulch, etc.
Nature
→ Gardener to plant & maintain kitchen herb garden
→ Occasional weeding & dead-heading in gar
→ Clear pine lot of lower branches
Education
→ Former teachers & military - you're especially good at hosting the school classes who visit our museum in Spring & Fall!
→ Plan & implement events or exhibits as part of a team - offer your ideas!
Unique
→ 2 coordinators to manage contacts, arrange training, & oversee recruiting, efficient use, & retention of volunteers
→ Learn to maintain a 1913 Model T, then drive it for parades and special events
