Ways to Support

There are all sorts of ways to support the Sparta Historical Society, Van Kirk Homestead Museum! Through your generous support, financially, through in kind donations, or a generous donation of your time, we can continue to preserve and present the history of Sparta and the surrounding areas.  Your gift will ensure that visitors may enjoy this special place for years to come!

Financial Donation

Help us preserve history!  Any donations given will be used to provide a secure future for our history education society and its homestead or specifically towards your designated request.  There are a variety of giving options available such a bequest through provisions in a will or living trust,  an "in honor of" or "in memory of" fund, or any thoughtful monetary gift.

Gifts of Securities

Sparta Historical Society (SHS) now has an account with Fidelity Investments for accepting gifts of securities.  By contributing stock directly to SHS, you can avoid capital gain taxes.  You may still take a charitable tax donation if you itemize, provided you held the stock for more than one year.

In-Kind Donation

Are you interested in donating materials to our museum collection? Every year, materials are added to our collection through the generosity of individuals interested in assisting in our mission. There is a process guided by our Collections Policy. Kindly contact us with a description of the object for consideration.
